There �s also a lovely selection of Scots and Northern English names for types of streets like �gate � (Gallowgate, Trongate etc), �vennel �, �close � and my favourite, �pend � (I used to live in a village with two alleyways called the �wee pend � and the �big pend �/ �micklepend �).

I also have a soft spot for the relatively common street name, �Rotten Row � (you can find them all over the UK).
