Dear colleagues,

Is it right to ask: What are their nationalities? instead of What nationality are they?

and answer: They are Portuguese or Jos� is Portuguese and Ruy is Spanish.

What are their nationalities? Jose is Portuguese and Ruy is Spanish. What nationality are they? They are Portuguese.

Edit. Either ques. can get you either answer because you don�t know if they are both of the same nationality or not until you�re told.
