Reading / was & were : elementary

Hi all!
I ve been searching the site, but I can t really find what I m looking for : An elementary reading including BE in the past tense. (No gap-filling, no grammar exs.) I need a basic text, even without comprehension questions.
Any idea/ link ??
Thanks a lot in advance!
Sylvie

I don t know if it could help you but why don t you try biographies ?
ex: His name was Charlie Chaplin. He was born in .... He was an actor. He was very funny. He was British etc...  It is rather simple for pupils to understand and it is quite easy to create !  I hope it helped you. Good luck !

Hi! Have a look at this story online, from and Oxford Book for ESL.  I don t know if the story you are looking for is for adults or kids. This one is for kids.

Hey Sylvie,

I am sure you know this site but check it out again
http://www.eslfast.com/easyread/index.html

Take a look at this, for example, http://www.eslfast.com/easyread/es/easy006.htm

There are stories in the simple past, simple present, future, continuous tenses - everything for elementary level.
