Talking about the word "idea"

Hi, dear teachers!

There s a collocation in Italian, which in English sounds like "tidy up your ideas" = mettere in ordine le idee.

What s  the REAL equivalent in BRE, though?

Hi,
There s a term in English that is  "buck up your ideas" sounds very much like it.

How about a "half-baked idea"?  Maybe that is close to your intended meaning.

See here

There is also a fantabulous video on it here

Ciao Canterina,

I can t think of an equivalent expression.  Possibly:

"Tidy up your ideas!" (As you suggest.)

"Get your ideas in order!" (Put your ideas into a more sensible arrangement!)

"Get yourself sorted out!" (Solve your problems and lead a normal life!)

"Straighten up your ideas!"  (Improve your bad attitude!)

"Smarten up your ideas!"  (Improve your bad attitude.)

"Think straight!" (Stop thinking in a confused fashion!)

"Put your house in order!" (Make the changes necessary to lessen your personal problems!)

"Put everything into apple-pie order!" (Arrange everything very neatly and tidily!)

I hope that this helps.

Les
