To come across is to find something by chance (an object)
To bump into is to meet someone by chance (a person)

Thank you for your help. I thought so, but when I checked the usage of them in Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary I found that come across is used as follows: come across sb / sth. I also found an example in which come across is followed by an object denoting a person.

to come across sb/ sth: to meet sb or to find sth by chance
to bump into sb: to meet sb unexpectedly (> same as come across)
BUT to bump into sth: to accidentally hit against sth

(Source: Macmillan Dictionary - come across, bump into)

Hope I ve helpedSmile
