Tag question

I has just read some explainantion about tag question. Some people say that

when we use must with the idea of assumption/deduction we use another auxiliary verb do make the tag qusetion such as to be or do/does or has/have.

examples:

You have worked a lot. You must be tired, aren t you?

She must be the new teacher, isn t she?
Tom must have stolen my car, hasn t he?

But I can t find this explaination like this in any book. Please introduce me some book!

I d say that we just don t use tag questions in this situation. Tag questions are used with solid affirmative or negative statements, with the tag being the opposite, and the assumption/deduction use of "must" isn t solidly affirmative, so there isn t an opposite to use in the tag.

I hope this isn t too confusing.

We use tag questions most commonly to seek agreement.  So a negative tag follows an affirmative statement we think true.

-----Water boils at 100 degrees celcius, doesn t it?

and an affirmative tag follows a negative statement we think true.
-----You don t like chocolate, doyou?

We also use tag questions to ask for information or help.

-----You wouldn t know where the public library is, would you?

-----You could help me with this translation, couldn t you?

Then there is the imperative statement---polite invitation to do something followed by a tag.

-----Close the door, would you?
-----Let s go, shall we?

And last, same-way tags.

express interest, surprise, anger and not to make real questions.

So... you hate my cooking, do you?!

And I agree with yanogator...I think there is no opposite tag for this statement.  Since using MUST indicates that you are very nearly to sure that what you stated is correct.

You can t use musn t because that would sound odd.  What I would do is :

You have worked a lot. You must be tired.  Are you?

which I think isn t  a tag, but more like a short question. I D LIKE TO KNOW MORE! anyone???
