The Time

I know 3 different ways to tell the time. For instance: 3.10 It s ten past three, It s three ten or It s ten after three. Do you know which one is the most common in Am E?
Thanks in advance
Jessie from Argentina on Our PATRIA s day!!!

I personally say 3:10, 3:30, 3:45, etc...it s easier.  (three-ten; three-thirty; three-forty-five)

I don t know if we use one over the other.  I know people who are like me, or who use quarter, half, and/or after ("five after" if the hour is understood) -- it s a question of preference.

Feliz dia de la patria :)

Yes, rockthevinyl is definitely correct. It s a regional thing, as well as what your parents used, so there isn t one most common way.

I always say ten past three, as most British people do.

As Rockthevinyl said or I often use "10 after..."  (I almost never use "past")

I also suspect it s a regional pattern.
We use 3:10 or 10 after 3 most often.
Interesting to see the different responses.
All the best.
