Sheep

Hi Everybody, I know this is ridiculous but I really need to know, sorry for my ignorance.

1.Can we say " sheep are" and "sheep is"? plural an singular.

2. Can we say 12 sheep, 5 sheep, 1 sheep?

3. can we say " One of the sheep"

Thanks in advance

The answer to all above is simple - YES! Wink

You can say, "The sheep are in my garden. Although, the black sheep is in my garage and one of the baby sheep is eating my newspaper...and I now see 1 sheep, 2 sheep, ... 5 sheep, 10 sheep in my yard... Oh my, I ll just stop counting sheep and have a nap!"

The only thing I ll add to Linda s great answer is that you have to have something before "sheep is".

A sheep is looking at me.
My sheep is green and yellow.
