NATIONAL ASSESSMENT TESTS part 2

Hi,

Im posting again this thread because Im really interested in it .

You can read the previous posts here:

http://www.eslprintables.com/forum/topic.asp?id=29084

I know in England there are National Assessment Tests in different subjects ( English Maths, Science,   French, Geography,  Literature  http://www.qcda.gov.uk/resources/search-results.aspx?keys=&page=0&phase=&topic=22&format=&for=&sortby=2&sortdir=1 ).

I would appreciate if  teachers who live in England would explain better the system: I read something about it  but Im confused.

I would like to know something about USA and other countries.

I would like to have look to the tests and download them , if possible.

Im very interested about the Greek  National Assessment Tests : I would like to download the PDF files from the site that Liliamalia  wrote (  http://www.kpg.ypepth.gr )  , but my computer cant open those PDF files and I hope to find them in other sites. Please , Greek teachers , may you help me?

Thanks

Sabrina

Hi Sabrina,

Firstly, I can tell you something about these National Assessment Tests. They were developed some years ago according The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)as a system for grading an individual s language proficiency. The European standard  sets six reference levels  for grading an individual s language proficiency.

If you haven t been informed about CEFR, you can read here http://www.coe.int/t/DG4/Portfolio/?M=/main_pages/levels.html    and http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/.
You ll find some nice links here  http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/cadre_en.asp
and a self-assessment grid  here http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/LanguageSelfAssessmentGrid/en

I m a state school teacher and our Ministry of Education held a couple of optional seminars  some time ago to introduce these tests. The kpg ( National Diploma of language proficiencyhas not been as widely accepted as the ministry hoped.
As to the pdf files if you tell me which ones you d like I can download them and send them. I can also download and send you some of the past papers but you ll have to allow me a week as I will be away for a long four day weekend. Just send me a PM telling me what you are looking for specifically and your email.

I hope this helps a bit.

Maria
