Hello all,
I wonder if you could help me. My vet asked me to recommend a CD of British English conversations that she could listen to in the car to improve her English. A long search on the Internet has provided me with several sites with podcasts that I can recommend to her, but only 1 CD and even that comes with a textbook that I don t think she really wants. This is the list I have compiled so far:
Free
resources from the Internet:
-
http://www.freeenglishnow.com/ You can download a free CD in British or
American English from http://www.freeenglishnow.com/help14.html
-
http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/elementary-podcasts
- can download for free and record on CD
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/general/expressenglish/
This is good because you can listen and read them at the same time on your
computer and if you click on Audio in the download box on the right you can
also save the audio to your computer and record to CD.
-
http://www.breakingnewsenglish.com/
British news site, so quite difficult language. Click on the article you want
and then click the Listen button. If you right click with your mouse you
should be able to save to your computer and record to CD.

Split into different levels which makes it easy to use. Just click on Download
to save to computer and record on CD,
CDs
Sorry I
cant find many CDs that focus on just British English. This book looks quite
good and has an accompanying CD, but it is actually meant to be used as a
textbook in a conversation course, so it includes speaking activities as well: http://www.amazon.co.jp/Cambridge-English-Listening-Speaking-Answers/dp/0521701988/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313589713&sr=8-1
Do any of you have any specifically British English listening resources that you can add to the list, or know of any British English Conversation CDs that you can recommend to me?
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Julia
