a 10 year prison sentence - need help (vocab)

Dear friends,

I am not sure about the following sentence; I would like it to be idiomatic.

You will be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Is it correct, please?

If not, how can I say it better, please?

THANKS a lot for your help & support!!!!!!!!!:) Hug

Your prison sentence will be ten years.
You will do ten years in jail.
You are sentenced to ten years in prison.
Youll get ten years in jail for this.
Youll do ten years, at least.

For a more colloquial sentence you could say "You are to be sent down for 10 years" or even "banged up for 10 years." We say "to bang someone up" (to incarcerate) and "to send down" (to sentence someone to a custodial term). I hope you haven t done anything wrong, Marie. ;-)

In Canada, we say "he will be put away for ten years". We often use the phrasal "put away" as incarcerate.

To add to Spinneys suggestions, if you want something really colloquially idiomatic  you can can say "he will do time", "he will go to the clink for ten years", "He will serve ten years"

A common phrase: "If you do the crime you must do the time"

Cheers
