Hi,
The two words : despondent and gloomy are introduced as synonyms. I know that both mean sad and without hope but I need to find the slight difference in meaning because the lesson is about how synonyms have differences in meaning. Any help?

Thanks

"despondent" is used for people, and "gloomy"  for places or weather... it can be used for people but you ll more likely find it used like this, "he s feeling a bit gloomy".
