I �m not a native speaker, but there is a number of correct solutions here, from past to future tenses. It is just not defined much by anything.

I agree with Minka, but the best solution according to me is
Were you watching? (It would be better to use Past Simple with the verb "see")
I climbed up the tree (while you were/weren �t watching)
