Hi,

I am confused about this senence ( from student s book ).

They reduced the flight time between Jeddah and Riyadh from Two hours twenty minutes to one hour twenty minutes.

I think we should use and between  Two hours twenty minutes

 one hour twenty minutes.

i.e. we should say : Two hours and twenty minutes

 one hour and twenty minutes.

What do you think???

Thanks a lot in advanced,

J

I think the word "and" can be left out in everyday conversations, but should be used in written speech... Am I wrong?? Ermm

Is this a difference between US and British English?
I wouldn t leave it out personally, but it sounds OK when I hear it missed out because I m used to hearing US English.

I usually pronounce the "and" as n.

two hours n twenty minutes  (like rock n roll)

(gosh how lazy we ve become with our conjunctions!!)
