Help on water project!

Hi everyone!
My 6th graders are doing a project on water with their teacher (I m teaching ESL in a public school) and I was asked to help.It is very general and they are going to cover many topics (physics, environmental, cultural). I am trying to find a way to fit ESL into this.Maybe legends, stories, songs?Any idea would be extremely helpful cause I m stuck. Thanks a lot!!!

Try the following:
http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/watercycleplacemat.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv-bgVT01Og
http://www.watereducation.org/doc.asp?id=1022
Google "song water cycle for kids" and you will find some interesting ones
You can engage them to find out about mythological creatures which lived in water-rivers,the sea etc http://www.lenntech.com/water-mythology.htm
Hope all this helps

I don t know what kind of activities you are looking for or how much time you have, but these can be interesting sites.

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/rt/weather/watercycle.shtml  Here s a script about the water cycle. I did it some years ago and we had great fun ... and the kids learnt a lot too.

My students also wrote some poems (I gave them  words related to water classified in different categories that they used to write the poems). They wrote the poems on pictures and crafts also related to water that they  made too: clouds, rain drops, umbrellas, ... We displayed the poems in the school. It was really nice

http://www.dcwater.com/kids/index.html  On this site there are some easy activities to learn about water, how to save it, ...

Hope you find this useful
Good luck!
Isabel

Our hands need washing every day using running water, but how, when and why?

I hope this topic can be useful.
