Question concerning the use of the prop word one

HI!

I m stuck, because I m not 100% sure which sentence is correct (in fact I assume that both are possible. Is that correct?!?):

a) I like this pigeon. - The grey or the white one?
b) I like this pigeon.- The grey one or the white one?

I d very much appreciate your help!
Thanks a lot!

I know that in German and some other languages probably you can  use an adjective  as a noun.

But is would depend heavily on context and probably the speaker would be pointing to the grey one and the white one.

I would not leave away the word ne     I would say the "grey one or the white one." Leaving away the word ne makes it feel like something is missing, to me.

But  I have lived out of the country for a long time and maybe my accuracy  in English is fading, so I would like to hear from others.

Either is perfectly acceptable and sound just fine.
