Is this wrong? Could someone provide an alternative?
|
Hi everybody
Before the year ends, I have a doubt.
Is it correct to say
"the like for complex research and academic challenges"
(meaning that he likes those things)
If not, what can be a good alternative to introduce this?
Thanks a lot and happy New Year!!!:)

Hi Belusa,
Maybe you can say "his preference for complex research and academic challenges" or "his interest in complex research and academic challenges".
Happy New Year!

Maybe he has a liking for complex research and academic challenges would be better. It is certainly how I would expect a native speaker to say it.
Happy New Year from Japan - its now 2009 here!

I agree with alien boy - he has a liking for sounds much better than the original sentence. |
