fruit

I wonder how to say one very simple thing in English. In the school where I teach, one of the tasks of a classroom monitor is to cut fruit (all students get fruit/ vegetables that are bought in advance by the school). Imagine a student (classroom monitor) excusing themselves and going to the canteen and saying -

May I go to the canteen/ kitchen and cut some fruit?

Does the question above sound natural in English?

or maybe: May I go to the canteen/kitchen and cut some apples/ oranges etc?

I do not think that "cut" in this context sounds right - or maybe I am wrong ?

You could use synonyms such as chop, mince, or slice if you don t like cut, but cut is perfectly okay. Smile

May I go to the canteen/ kitchen and cut some fruit?  is perfectly correct

you could also change "some" to "the" because you are referring to some specific fruit.
