Have you seen this?  I just searched for traditional children s games.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_traditional_children%27s_games

You may want to contact some of our American members personally and ask them about these games.

Kids these days play video/computer games. The kids in my neighborhood are almost never seen outdoors.

Hello elif hoca!

I am actually American so I can try to help.

We used to play some of the following:

At school - teacher-led
Duck, duck goose
Hucklebuckle beanstalk
Kickball
Dodgeball
Red light, green light
Mother may I

At parties
Musical chairs
Pin the tail on the donkey
Charades

At school - on the playground
Tag
Freeze tag
TV tag
Hopscotch (mostly girls)
Jump rope (mostly girls)
clapping games (mostly girls)
we also used to make little fortune tellers out of paper (mostly girls)

At home on the street
Kickball
Hide and seek
Monkey in the middle

In a swimming pool
Marco Polo

In the car
I spy
20 questions

Here is a jump rope song that I still remember:

Blue bells, cockleshells, eevy ivy over
I like coffee, I like tea,
I like the boys and the boys like me
Singing A, B, C, D....

We used to rock the rope back and forth till we got to over , from then we would turn the rope over the jumper s head.  Also, the jumper jumped out on the initial of the boy they liked ;-)  Otherwise, if they tripped on a letter, they would have to think of a boy s name that started with that letter.

A clapping game that I remember is this (there s a slightly naughtier version too):

Miss Mary Mac, Mac, Mac all dressed in black, black, black
with silver buttons, buttons, buttons
all down her back, back, back
She asked her mother, mother, mother
for 50 cents, cents, cents
to see the elephants, elephants, elephants
jump over the fence, fence, fence

I can t remember some of the rules to the teacher led ones, but if you can t find them on the internet I will try!

I hope that helps!

Younger kids also did London Bridge is falling down, Pat-a-cake and Ring around the roses (at school and at home).

And another one we did at parties was the Hokey Pokey.

I m doomed now...I ll be thinking about this all day!
