Silence - service in progress

Could anyone tell me the meaning of this expression? Does it mean that we are working? Does anyone know how to translate it into Spanish?

It would really depend where you find the notice..... I am a native speaker from South Africa and there it would usually be found at the entrance to a church, thus meaning " Silence - church service in progress",  ie be quiet during the mass.

I have seen it used in a comic way in certain offices, as a play on the word "service", but it is VERY idiomatic!
Hope this helps.....Sorry, I couldn t translate it to Spanish though!
