A film for students aged 14

Hi,
I would like you to recommend me a film for elementary students aged 14. We re studying the topic of clothes and present continuous but it could deal about anything interesting for them. Last year we watched Ratatouille when we were studying the topic of food recipes and it worked really well. I also passed them Johny English to work on British culture. They love it!

Thanks for your help!!!!

That s a tough one.  There aren t many good movies on this topic especially for that age.  I used "The Devil Wear Prada" but it s not a boy s movie.  How about "Mannequin"?  It s an old movie from the eighties with Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrell.  It s kind of silly but there are lots of clothes in it.

I use lots of movies with my students.

Dante s Peak and Twister for Natural Disasters.
Goal II for Sports
Dr. Doolitte for Environment
Mrs. Doubtfire and Freaky Friday for Home and family
Transformers for technology
Dreamgirls for music
Doc Hollywood for medicine
Night at the Museum 1 & 2 for history and museums

Next year I plan on using
The Blind Side for Home and Family and Sports
Speed for Transportation
The Day after Tomorrow Natural Disasters, Weather, Environment
Parenthood, Mr. Mom for home and family
Maid in Manhattan for politics and work
Bandslam for music
Medicine Man for the Environment and medicine
The Net for Technology

My younger students liked Mr. Bean, The Pink Panther, Hotel for Dogs, Hoot, Muppets and Spiderman.  They are asking me for the Ice Age movies.  I might do "Up" and "Wall-E" with them.

I like the Back to the Future movies myself.

My older students have asked for Hunger Games as well.

Hope this helps,
Esther

If your ss are interested in science fiction they should watch the old movie The Time Mashine. The first scene is good for discussing a typical English house and furniture. My ss love it!

Dead Poets Society is my fav as well Smile I can share some ideas about this movie with you, too

Good luck
