pretended email
|
Good evening to all of you. I m correcting some writing activities my students have done today. They had to write an email to a friend in Denmark. One of my students wrote he was writing "a pretended email" as he had no friend in Denmark. I don t know if pretended can be used in contexts like that. Thanks a lot in advance. |

I don t think "pretended" can be used so.
Merriam-Webster Examples of using PRETENDED in context- <he shows a pretended affection for his girlfriend s cat>
- <hoped that his pretended interest in classical music would impress the boss>
How about writing "imaginary" instead? |

You could also call it a mock email, meaning not real, but imitating the real thing.
Other collocations with mock are a mock exam, mock test and even a mock election. |
