How do you say?

Hey friends, how are you?

Well, I don t know if someone came up with this type of question so, here we go:

How do you say 2012?

Two Thousand twelve?

Twenty Twelve?

What is correct?

Please, let me know.

Have a good week.

I always use two thousand and twelve

I ve read somewhere that after 2010 we read dates the old way. Therefore
2010 - twenty ten
2011 - twenty eleven
2012 - twenty twelve

However, when I listen to people talking on TV, on the news or in films, etc. they often use two thousand and twelve . Maybe it s something for our dear native speaker friends to explain better.
Greetings from Portugal!

Lurdessilva is correct....

People are actually now saying two thousand twelve but the official correct way to say it is twenty twelve. I believe that when we finally hit 2020 people will start pronouncing them correctly.

When you pronounce it like a sum it is indeed pronounced two thousand and twelve.

Any more questions don t be afraid to ask.

I disagree that there is an "official correct way". Both pronunciations are common and correct.

I agree with Bruce, all are in common usage amongst native speakers - two thousand twelve, two thousand and twelve and twenty twelve.

So,

Both of them are correct, right?

Thanks you guys for the help!

I ll continue saying two thousand (and) twelve, until I see a "rule" that is correct to say in a different way.

Have a beautiful day to you all
