In England, people don �t use �ought � much. They say �should � �must � or �have to �. �Ought � is considered very formal.

We use them pretty much the same although I would agree with cunliffe that "should" is a tad more common in the UK (unless you �re from Sheffield or Norfolk where it seems to me that "ought" is more common). However, we don �t normally use "ought to" in the interrogative or negative.

And yes, Zora I �ve considered "ought to" as a semi-modal (the same way as "need" or "dare").

I thought that I would be the only one questioning about this, but afterall Modals and semi-modals keep on being rather trickyTongue
