just got or have just got

Hello everyone,
can someone tell me is the sentense "I just got a letter" correct one? Found it in videos, worksheets and got confused....Shouldn t it be in Present Perfect????

If the emphasis is on the receiving more than on the physical letter, then the simple past is fine, because it is a one-time action completed in the (very recent) past. If the emphasis is on the letter itself, having a consequence in the present, then "I have just got (gotten in the US) a letter".

Does that help?
