I need some help!

Hello everyone!

I have two special needs students with Down Syndrome. They are beginner level and one of them cant even speak his own language (Portuguese) properly. Ive been asked to present some work done by them by the end of the second term but I need something other than drawings or worksheets. Any ideas? Ive never worked with special needs students before, so I just cant see what I can do with them... Help me please!

Thanks

Why dont you try to give them a short poem (I have two on eslprintables although any would do) or nursery rhyme in English and get them to copy it but changing the words they recognise, such us colours, animals, names. That way they can "create" their own poem and decorate it. It will do a nice piece of work on their file. Just a suggestion!.

Hi,
Isto a minha opinio. Procure no google: teaching English for special needs. Deve haver uma poro de coisas. Se nos ocorre algo, entrarei em contato.
Um abrao do Brasil

I agree with Fernandez, its a nice thing to do. However, I know its VERY difficult to work with such students!!! Vamos l simplificar as coisas... GREETINGS..:)

What about "Head, shoulders, knees and toes"? How old are your students?

boa sorte e bom trabalho.

These students need movement and working with their hands, so following directions while singing a song will be great (head and shoulders suggested by frenchfrog is a very useful song) or may be hokey-pockey or any other song with movement (you can see lots on you tube, for example super simple songs) and crafts is something that they like doing too. finger painting, modelling etc.
