Hello from Tunisia,
You can start your lesson with asking yes/ no questions about the names of the pupils. For example, you ask a pupil this question: "is your name Sam?" He would answer with no. then, you can ask him about his real name, and he will answer with "yes". "Do you speak Arabic?" they will say "no". Or any other question that leads to "yes" or "no". This way you introduce the rule of the yes/no question with the verb "to be" and with the other verbs.
Hope you like this suggestion and find it useful at least to some extent.

You could teach them to play 20 questions.

You give them a little hint and then the have to guess what you are thinking about in twenty questions or less using only yes/no questions.

Example:
T: I am thinking about a small hairy thing.
S: Is it a living thing?
T: No.
S: Does it make noise?
T: Yes
S: Is it a toy?
T: Yes
S: Is it a "Furby"
T: Yes, good job, you guessed it.

Dear Lizsantiago,

If you send me your Email Address, I will send you my Worksheet which explains the difference between "Yes/No" Questions", "Information Questions",  and "Alternative Questions" --- showing choice of question words, position of words, intonation of voice, etc.  (The third type of question is used VERY RARELY in English and does not need to be taught, if you wish to omit it).

I will also send you my "Yes/No Worksheet", which has "200 Yes/No Questions, Exercise", and Key, giving suitable "Yes/No Answers".  The Worksheet can be used for Reading/Writing, or Speaking/Listening.

You can adapt them as you wish.

I hope that these will help you.
