thanks a lot!!! My favourite food is chicken and potatoes" is written in a pupil s book. That s why I ask so easy and simple questions)) it is a mistake in a book.

I don t know ladzoya,  it might mean, that my favorite food is a combination of chicken and potatoes, "food" is a generic, unspecific term.  It could be plain wrong or it could just be vague.

foods or colours, because there is an s on the end, you say are.

I have to agree with Annabelle about food. At least in the States, "food" can refer to a prepared dish. If "chicken and potatoes" refers to a stew or a casserole with both, I don t see anything wrong with that. You definitely need to use "colors/colours," however. Otherwise, your favorite color is purple.
