I use movies without subtitles. One day a week we have movie day. They enjoy it very much

I also find movies and videos (e.g. you tube) in English with English subtitles to be pretty effective too.

Hi David,
When I taught intermediate students I noticed that they had problems with listening when their pronunciation was incorrect as they expected to hear what they wanted to hear and not the true sounds. So in order to make them understand what they listened I tried to improve their pronunciation. We did listening comprehension tests, then we read them, underlying the words they mispronounced, then I searched for some songs or other listening resources that included their problematic vocab to make them accustom to the correct pronunciation and consequently the correct understanding of the words being pronounced by native speakers.

I hope this helped,

have a good day,

Alex

Alex - that is sooooo true - for some students just increasing their awareness of pronunciation makes a huge impact on their listening comprehension
