							| I haven �t done any formal research, but I do know from experience that the language used in tests or exams is all too often too difficult for students to understand. 
 One of the reasons students underperform is not necessarily lack of studying, but failing to grasp what they are supposed to do. 
 I think the solution to this is twofold: teachers should prepare student better for exam language and official exam questions should be written so they match the test level (e.g.  �Complete the sentences with the appropriate verb tenses � is not a good instruction for beginner level tests). |  13 Jul 2013
