what is the difference between temperature and temperatures? When are they used?

we say the temperature in paris is......

the current temperatures are as follows.(paris.....;new york.......;scottland........,mexico.......;rabat..........)

ie we say temperature when we speak about one location, and temperatures to speak about many places.singular vs plural
