i need a help. i can �t understand what the following sentence say although i look it up. would you please explain it to me.

Under UK opportunity laws, an employee didn �t use to discriminate against on the grounds of race, religion or gender.

My guess is:

According to British equal employment opportunities one cannot be discriminated while applying for a job regardless race, religion or gender.

But I suppose native speakers have a better version....

The sentence doesn �t quite make sense as it is. 

Under UK equal opportunity laws, an employee cannot be discriminated against on the grounds of race, religion or gender. 
I don �t understand why �didn �t use to � because this is still very much the law...
