hi what is the difference between"tend not to" and "dont tend to" thanks in advancef

The way I see it "tend not to" means "something/someone has a tendency not to do something" whereas "doesn �t tend to" can have the meaning "something/someone doesn �t have the tendency at all"
But without the context it �s hard to say as "to" can be a preposition as well.
Anyway have a look at the meanings and examples here and maybe this will clear things up.
