it s the name of a Disney  movie revolving around a teenager girl who falls for a guy in her high school. One day, before sleeping, she makes the wish of being able to stick to him all the time no matter what it takes. When she wakes up, she finds herself in his place and turned into a cat. Yet, she doesnt freak out. On the opposite, she is very happy to give up her life as a human being  if that means  staying by his side as a cat. Then, this word was adopted by dictionaries to refer to a girl who has an irrational infatuation with some guy that goes to the extent of doing crazy stuff..literally meaning a cat that opts for romance.

Excellent definitions so far! Sadly, incorrect!

Catoptromancy is a psychological condition of classical scholars. It is an infatuation with and an adoration of our Roman hero -  Cato PT (Publius Trifonius). We hold annual meetings to praise and appreciate his wisdom, his insight into the human condition and to mourn his untimely death.

 We are the Catoptromantics.
