It was  nice of you to remember an old friend . I would not use "idea" Smile

Mariethe is entirely correct. If you must use "you", you can say "It was a nice idea for you to remember your old friend", but "It was nice of you..." is the best way to say it.

That was a nice idea of yours to remember your old friend.

That�s a good idea of yours to go on a picnic.

I agree with yanogator.
Also, in a natural speaking situation, I would likely say, "That was so nice of you to remember your old friend."
English is so regional!
