Which is correct here?
How many marks are given in the Part II paper? How many marks did you get in English? OR What is the marks given in the Part II paper? What is the marks in English?>
Please help me know the correct usage(grammatically correct).

Luckily, I work in a school without grades or exams but ...I think that for every different part of an exam, you can get a certain amount of points. The total of the points you got for every part will make up your final mark or grade. So it would be: How many points are given for part II of the exam/test paper? What grade/mark did you get in English?
Others may be able to give a better answer.

To add to Marion s answer - How many marks are available for part 2? How many marks are there for Part 2? And I think How many marks are given..? is OK. How many marks did you get in English? It s OK, but maybe a bit old-fashioned? Probably kids would say What did you get for English?
Generally, in English secondary schools, people go by levels (although these have recently been abolished by the government) and grades. So, What level are you at in English? What s your grade in English? They are rarely given marks out of ten, or whatever; or percentages. Just levels and grades. This may not be true for kids in primary education. |

In the US we generally call "marks" "grades".
"What grade did you get on the test?"(asking for overall grade)
"What was you score on the last test?"(asking for #of points or percentage)
"How many points is section II worth?"
"What is the maximum possible points for section II?" |
