She takes the odd day off work - Help?
|
Think of one word only which can be used appropriately in all three sentences. - The __________________ thing about him is that he never eats in the evening.
- She takes the _____________ day off work.
- We’ve got a few _____________ jobs to do this weekend.
Ok, the word is ODD. Could someone help me understand the highlighted sentence? |

Hi, I guess it means that she takes a day off work occasionally... |

Yes, it means she takes the occasional day off work. Odd here means out of the place or unusual. |

Isn t it "odd days?" It could mean she takes Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday off work which are odd days (in contrast to even days) |

t.javanshir, that is possible, but I think that would be better phrased as she works alternate days. If you say, she works the odd day/ odd days it means every now and then. |
