I would say "I took the tram.", but I can �t say that "tramway" is wrong.

Hi, Take in this context should be followed by a means of transport (take a tram/bus/train/car, etc) As far as I know, a tramway is a set of rails/track which trams run on, so you cannot take a tramway, just like you cannot take a railway/railroad - you take a train. Have a good day, Giorgi
