Which one is correct?
I took the tram to get to the town centre. / I took the tramway to get to the town centre.
Any other solutions.

I would say "I took the tram.", but I can t say that "tramway" is wrong.

Hi,

Take in this context should be followed by a means of transport (take a tram/bus/train/car, etc)

As far as I know, a tramway is a set of rails/track which trams run on, so you cannot take a tramway, just like you cannot take a railway/railroad - you take a train.

Have a good day,
