Which one is correct?

Hi everybody,
Could you please help to choose the correct option?
  1.       The man is in front of the mirror.
  2.       The man is opposite the mirror.
Thanks a lot.

They can both be correct, but the first one is more likely. If you are standing at the mirror, looking into it, you are in front of the mirror. If you are directly across the room from it, you are opposite the mirror.

"In front of the mirror" is what a native speaker is likely to say.

A little more --

"In front of the mirror" -- indicates he is there and his purpose is to look at himself.

"opposite the mirror" -- is used to indicate his position in the room in relation to the mirror.  "He is opposite the mirror and beside the sofa."   -- Or, "He is opposite the mirror, between the sofa and chair"
