AS or LIKE?

Hi everyone!

I have a question regarding AS and LIKE in the following sentence.

"Me must have a law, AS any nation has"
or
"We must have a law, LIKE any nation has"

Could you tell me which one could be the best from the grammatical point of view, and why?
Thanks in advance

Hi aldonza

My preference is for as when used in written form, on the grounds of formality as I assume that this kind of statement would be expressed formally. However, like would be used in casual conversation. Both are common usage.

This cambridge link might shed more light.

Cheers
