Hello dear fellow teachers,

I have a query about collocations with ‘agreement’. I know we can reach or come to an agreement, but is it possible to say arrive at an agreement? Does it sound awkward, or is it perfectly fine? Hope you can help me to get it right.

Arrive at an agreement is perfectly fine. It�s quite formal but you see it in the press all the time.

"Oxford Collocations Dictionary, 2009", page 16:

AGREEMENT

2. STATE OF AGREEING

Verb + Agreement.

arrive at, come to, reach.

"I am hopeful that we can come to an agreement"; "The two sides failed to reach agreement".

It also gives additional information about Adjectives that can be used with Agreement.

ADJECTIVES

Absolute agreement, complete agreement, full agreement, total agreement, broad agreement, general agreement, widespread agreement, mutual agreement.

I hope that this little bit of extra information is of use to you.
