Arabic played some influence in Portuguese. Mainly in the south. All kids know that the majority of words starting with "AL" have an arabic influence, such as: ALGARVE, ALBUFEIRA, ETC. Also your expression God willing with time become oxala which is quite similar to your original one. Anyway you should contact professors and not teachers since we Do not teach these type of things ..... Only linguistics deal with la guage evolutions.
