Common European Framework

Hi guys. When I was teaching EAL in schools in England, I used the NASSEA steps for assessment. There were 9 steps and each one was clearly defined, in terms of what students could do. The CEF has 6 stages - A1 to C2, as you know. I think that is better and that is what I am using now. Is there a definitive detailed description of each stage?

Thanks Lynne

You may want to explore the official CEFR website by the Council of Europe:

https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/level-descriptions the three most important tables with descriptors are at the bottom of the page

Thank you, guys, that is really helpful. One of the reasons I asked was because different teachers seem to have different interpretations. Also, on islCollective, downloaders are asked to vote on the level of the downloads they make. If three people vote, you can guarantee they will all be different!

Thanks again for your time and trouble.
