Variant 1 is correct if you mean a regular or a future action on a timetable. Variant 2 is correct if you mean the past. Like, for instance, it happened yesterday. I�d hazard a guess they are testing your knowledge of future forms. So let it be �leaves�. However, the task is incorrectly structured.
