I have a simple question.

This is the active sentence:  Peter gave his girlfriend a stolen ring.

What is the correct passive sentence??

- His girlfriend was given a ring.

- A ring was given to his girlfriend.

Both sound correct to me , but there s a grammatical explanation to this. I think it has to do with indirect objects....  I do not remember.... can you help me?

MANY THANKS

Both sentences are grammatically correct. It s just that you have two objects that you can "play" with in this sentence - the direct and indirect object.

For me, both are correct... It is called the idiomatic passive, because you use the direct or indirect object to start the sentence in the passive voice...
