in street or on street?

in the sentence "He leaves his house in Church street and drives to work" we should use the preposition "in" or "on"?

"On" is the correct choice. i.e. He lives on 4th Street. Smile

For that sentence you should use "on".
He lives on Park Avenue.

However, you can use in for some situations. For example:
Jenny and Tom played basketball in the street.
(to show they were playing in the middle of the street)

Formally we should use on as the preposition of place with street addresses but informally locals will use in .  For example, if I said on with my actual street name people would give me a blank look.  Sometimes in just sounds better even though it is not grammatically correct.

If you need to clarify further just google prepositions of place.
