US history.... drool so easy...  not really it is fairly complex...  I remember taking the initial High School Social Studies Exam leaving shaking my head.  Asking myself why do I care what Economic treaty between Egypt and Rome was signed to use Sicily and create a trade route or the economic/fishing treaties of the Mesoptamia era when I was going to be teaching 20th Century history, Military History and modern Asian history.  Want to see a hard exam try the Social Studies Exam you have to know social, political, cultural, economic, military information from the cave time to current affairs.  The study guide is only good for 6 months because they change the exam every year.  Now the Meoptamia did give us the 60 minute hour, 7 day week calendar, 24 hour day and 360 circumference of the circle, but why was there a question on which fishing treaty enhance the original treaty with it s neighbors in the 20th BC.  There is far more important and interesting history from that era like what the Babylonians and Sumerians did in the other fields including eduction.  My rant on the Social studies "overview" exam in order to teach Social Studies in American schools.  The economic questions cost me the initial exam.
