Grammar Confusion!!

Hi dear friends,
It s about combing two sentences with the correct relative pronoun. Other mistakes by my 8th graders.

Which one is correct???

First Example: a. He worked in a dirty place.
                                b. Modern improvements didn t alter it.
Choice 1: He worked in a dirty place where improvement didn t alter.
Choice 2: He worked in a dirty place where modern improvements didn t alter.

Another choice maybe???

Second Example: a- Bob s work was considered tough.
b- He had experienced hard conditions while still young??

Choice 1: Bob whose work was considered tough had experienced hard conditions while still young.

Any other choice?? I feel the first one is not correct??/

Thanks a lot.
Nebal

Hi Nebal,
1- Modern improvements didn t alter the dirty place where he worked
or
1-He worked in a dirty place which modern improvements didn t alter
For the second one,it´s correct but you have to add commas.
Hope it helps.
