Those are good, at least I now feel a bit better about
L1 used in my classroom.
 
I wouldn �t say it is 30 %, so looks like we are OK.
 
It �s just I was surprised when some teachers I interviewed for the job told me that in some colleges teachers get fired if they speak a word of L1. They also mentioned what lengths they went to to prevent the use of L1 in the classroom.
 
All of a sudden I though that MAYBE I am one a terrible terrible completely useless and unprofessionla teacher... 
 
I personally think it is so natural to use L1 to understand L2. Whenever it is really necessary, of course, not slipping into the lazy use. I often get them to translate, compare or contrast, because in the end it makes up for linguistic education. I think.
 
I �ll keep searching for linguistic isolation, if I find anything, I �ll post.
