Question one of many... Analyzing texts

Question one of many... Analyzing texts
could we say that a "covenant" is a type of prose/text?
Is is a specific Genre?

United States

Never, ever heard of that.
A convenant is a pact between people.

a covenant, in contrast to a contract, is a one-way agreement whereby the covenanter is the only party bound by the promise.

But who knows - could be some new thing I never heard of!

the thing is Im analyzing texts for a comparative commentary, and one of these is  the "covenant on the rights of people in need of refuge", it is a prose...but I wonder, whats the genre? And there comes the question...this is hard :)
